The
Jennifer Aniston zone diet has been criticised as a fad diet
in terms of weight loss, not because it is a poor
nutritional choice. But because if people stopped using it
and went back to their old eating patterns, they tend to put
on weight again.
I find
this interesting and amusing, as it was probably those
eating habits that caused weight gain in the first place.
Based on that criticism, what is the difference between the
zone diet and the food pyramid, or indeed any other diet?
If a
fad diet is defined by someone's decision not to continue
with it, then anything can be classified that way. Even
healthy eating. The Jennifer Aniston zone diet does not
cause reactions in the body that are characteristic of
illness - like atkins diet and many others. The reactions in
the body I'm talking about are starvation-like reactions
(like prolonged ketosis).
As an
interesting comparison to the atkins diet, the Jennifer
Aniston zone diet does not require you to take supplements.
You can if you want, but all your micronutrients and
macronutrients are provided for by the diet itself -
provided you choose healthy food. But the atkins diet
requires you to take supplements irrespective of your food
choices. That is not the mark of a healthy diet.
Vegetarians can also follow the Jennifer Aniston zone diet.
The
Jennifer Aniston zone diet is a healthy eating plan, and as
such can be sustained indefinitely. It leaves room for
choice for your favourite foods now and then, as long as you
balance them (in the Jennifer Aniston zone diet way) and
don't make nutrient poor food choices (like ice cream and
chocolate biscuits) your main staple.
This
medium to low carb diet is adaptable to the requirements of
athletes, sedentry people, and everyone in between. It is
also good for diabetics and people with heart problems.
That
doesn't mean it will suit everyone. Food is a matter of
personal choice. But it is an excellent foundation for good
health and perfect for people trying to lose weight.
